Are electronic signatures legally binding in real estate transactions?

Yes. Electronic signatures are considered legal and recognized as a  substitute for handwritten signatures by various countries across the world. Revv eSignatures comply with the U.S. Federal ESIGN Act and UETA, as well as international laws and statutes.

In other countries, there are local nuances and legality may vary slightly based on the governing authorities, but they usually define how electronic signatures need to be captured to deem them legal. Primarily, this pertains to ensuring that the person signing the document was the correct person, had the intent to sign, and the process can be audited for compliance.

How secure are Revv's electronic signatures?

Per industry best practices, each electronic signature is unique, documentable, encrypted, and tamper-evident. Transactions are confidential and we provide a comprehensive audit trail of all signing events including email opens, document opens and signing action. You also have the choice of capturing a drawn signature or a simple click-to-sign. For additional security, SMS authentication can be used to ascertain signer identity.

How do clients sign documents that I send to them?

Each signer receives a unique link (either via email or SMS) that they click to open the document on their mobile phone, tablet, or computer. They are guided on where they need to plae their signature. When the recipient clicks Close or Exit, the signed document is saved and you are notified of its completion.
