It was a big deal, literally. In what I expected to be the final meeting, I asked my boss and another colleague to come along to \u201cwitness me in action\u201d. &nbsp;We went to meet the lead in his office and his P.A asks us to wait. 15 mins pass. 30 mins pass. 45 mins pass. My boss was getting impatient and frankly so was I. An hour later, the P.A says his boss was busy and needs to cancel. I got ghosted, Imagine my boss\u2019s expression.\u201d<\/span><\/i><\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-gallery columns-1 is-cropped\"><ul class=\"blocks-gallery-grid\"><li class=\"blocks-gallery-item\"><figure><img loading=\"lazy\" width=\"665\" height=\"152\" src=\"https:\/\/www.revv.so\/blog\/sales\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/02\/0-3-1.png\" alt=\"\" data-id=\"75549\" data-link=\"https:\/\/simpledocs.wpengine.com\/nightmare-on-sales-street\/0-3-1\/\" class=\"wp-image-75549\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.revv.so\/blog\/sales\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/02\/0-3-1.png 665w, https:\/\/www.revv.so\/blog\/sales\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/02\/0-3-1-300x69.png 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 665px) 100vw, 665px\" \/><\/figure><\/li><\/ul><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h3><strong>Ghost of Classmate\u2019s Past<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This is one where your actions towards a classmate come back and haunt you.<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br><\/span><span style=\"color: #666699;\"><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cWhen I was in college, there was this girl whom my friends and I considered ditzy and weird. &nbsp;We never ill treated her but never made any effort to know her either but did go to great lengths to ignore her. &nbsp;A decade later my boss asks me land a successful startup as a client and get a meeting, which I did. Turns out, it was owned by that girl. To my surprise, she confirmed the appointment. Some leads are just like that. <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br><\/span><span style=\"color: #666699;\"><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cIt had only been two months since I joined as a sales rep. &nbsp;I got my first lead. It was one of those instances where I didn\u2019t have much information about the company. &nbsp;I didn\u2019t know what to sell them partly because I wasn\u2019t briefed about all the products and services my company sells. The pressure was building from my manager so I got a meeting. &nbsp;Needless to say I blew it. Later I got to know that some other rep had already approached them and was close to landing them. I blew it for him too. I was just thankful my manager didn\u2019t accompany me.\u201d<\/span><\/i><\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img loading=\"lazy\" width=\"708\" height=\"152\" src=\"https:\/\/www.revv.so\/blog\/sales\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/02\/0.png\" alt=\"RevvSales - What happens when your client acts as a Schrodinger's cat\" class=\"wp-image-75544\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.revv.so\/blog\/sales\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/02\/0.png 708w, https:\/\/www.revv.so\/blog\/sales\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/02\/0-300x64.png 300w, https:\/\/www.revv.so\/blog\/sales\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/02\/0-690x148.png 690w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 708px) 100vw, 708px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h3><b>Your Client, the Schrodinger&#8217;s Cat<\/b><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This is what waiting for a lead at a meeting feels like. &nbsp;Like Schrodinger&#8217;s cat you never know whether they\u2019re dead (not turning up) or alive (just late). &nbsp;As frustrating as it is, you just have to open the box, wait and see.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2><strong>OTHER DISTURBING MENTIONS<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<h3><b>Nearing the Dreadful End<\/b><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">For a person in sales, it\u2019s not just the 31st of October but the 31st (or 30th) of every month that gets their heart racing and forehead sweating. &nbsp;Reason: sales targets. Even if you know you\u2019ve reached your quota for the month but your manager and team members haven\u2019t, it can impact your increment and bonus. &nbsp;We wish you all the best for this month end. <\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3><b>When Rewards Seems Like Punishment<\/b><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">You just nailed your quota for the month, you feel you\u2019re on cloud nine. You\u2019re dreaming of the bonus coming your way and the vacation you can take. &nbsp;But, for some of the salespeople, we spoke to, exceeding sales quota is hardly a good thing for the fear of quota being increased for their next month or quarter. <\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3><b>Rise of the Machines<\/b><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">One thing that can give any sales rep or even sales ops nightmares is implementing new tech that claims to aid your work. Sometimes it works so well that you feel like a moron.
